Gaining traction

It's been a rough couple of weeks, but things might be looking up around here.

I left work early so I could get my ServSafe certification at our Alexandria location, and I was home early enough to take a nap on our new couch. It's been way too long since I fell asleep in the middle of the afternoon to the Jersey housewives. Half day at work + nap + Caribou Coffee = finally not too tired to make dinner. Normally after 8-9 hours on my feet in the kitchen at work, it's the last thing I want to do when I get home. But today I got inspired and broke into my fall squash collection:

I used the organic delicata in the back (which was free from work - one of the many perks of my job) and made penne with goat cheese, baked squash and toasted almonds. That makes the second *real* dinner we've had since we moved in two weeks ago, counting the time my husband made soup.

It almost felt like a lazy Sunday, even though it was technically a work day (waking up at 4:30 on a Sunday morning - not such a perk of my job). We're hunkering down for the most epic night of television history: the finale of Breaking Bad. The anticipation is killing me.
